SOUTH32 HERMOSA PROJECT AWARDS $105,500 IN GRANTS TO LOCAL COMMUNITY NONPROFITS
South32 has announced the names of 14 charitable organizations selected to receive a total
of $105,500 in grants from the company’s donor-advised Hermosa Community Fund. The
grants ranged from $2,500 to $10,000 and supported a broad array of needs and initiatives.
Grantees include 0S3 Movement, which applied to receive financial support for their Reptilians
Youth Cycling Team (RYCT). This program for middle and high school students provides
cycling training and educates young members on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and
community involvement. It also emphasizes equity, with a commitment to fostering a
community where bicycling is safe, comfortable, and open to all.
Senior Citizens of Patagonia also received a grant, to help upgrade their commercial kitchen
to continue meeting state health and safety mandates. Five days a week, this organization
serves free lunches to its 175 clients, which include seniors and other people from within the
community. “Stainless steel tabletops, cabinets, and work areas will greatly improve our ability
to sanitize our kitchen, thereby ensuring the quality of health and wellbeing of the seniors and
people whom we serve,” said Chuck Kelly, Vice President of Senior Citizens of Patagonia.

- Community Homes of Patagonia (CHOP)
- Circles of Peace
- East Santa Cruz Community Food Bank
- Family Health Care Amigos
- Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona
- International Taekwondo Union
- Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest
- Patagonia Creative Arts Association
- Patagonia Regional Aquatics Center
- Patrons of the Arts
- Senior Citizens of Patagonia
- St. Andrew’s Preschool and Child Care Center
Since 2019, the Hermosa Community Fund has awarded $791,950 to nearly 50 different
nonprofit organizations. The application period for the next round of grants will open on June

The South32 Hermosa Community Fund is held by the Community Foundation for Southern
Arizona (CFSA) and was established by South32 in May of 2019 to support non-profit groups
working to improve education, environment, health and welfare, recreation, civic enhancement, and arts, culture and history in the county. Grants are awarded following a review of
applications by a committee.
