GOVERNOR DOUG DUCEY MEETS WITH SANTA CRUZ COUNTY HERMOSA PROJECT PRESIDENT FOR UPDATE
South32 Hermosa Project President Pat Risner met with Arizona Governor Doug Ducey early this
week to provide an update on the project’s progress in Santa Cruz County.
Mr. Risner joined South32 in April 2019 to lead the Hermosa Project, a base-metals development
option that includes the zinc-lead-silver Taylor deposit. With exploration still underway, the project is
also nearing completion of a multimillion-dollar voluntary project to remediate unlined tailings from
historic mining operations in the area.
Governor Ducey visited Hermosa after the South32 acquisition last year and spoke about the project’s potential to have a tremendous impact on job-creation in the state.
Governor Ducey is chair of the Arizona-Mexico Commission (AMC), which is hosting its annual
summit this week in Phoenix. South32 is a sponsor of this event that brings together industry leaders
and policymakers from Arizona and Mexico for discussions aimed at increasing economic vitality in Arizona and the border region.
