SOUTH32’S HERMOSA PROJECT PARTICIPATES IN TUCSON METRO CHAMBER PODCAST ON CRITICAL MINERALS
Pat Risner, President of the South32 Hermosa Project was a guest on the Tucson Metro
Chamber of Commerce’s “The Business of…” Podcast on July 27, 2022.
The episode, entitled “The Business of Critical Minerals,” was hosted by Heather Wuelpern,
Tuscon Metro Chamber Director of Communications. Risner was joined by Retired Major
General Ted Maxwell, President and CEO of the Southern Arizona Leadership Council (SALC)
and Pima County Representative on the Arizona State Transportation Board.
Risner and Maxwell discussed:
● The importance of manganese and zinc for electric vehicles and other clean energy
technologies like wind and solar power
● How Hermosa intends to set a new standard for sustainable mining
● Geopolitical threats related to critical minerals and the importance of strengthening
domestic supply chain of critical minerals
